Cowboy brothers Cord and Jet McCoy of Tupelo have advanced to “The Amazing Race” Season 16 finale, reports The Oklahoman’s TV Editor Penny Soldan.

The Oklahomans form one of the three teams in the running for the $1 million grand prize. The season finale will air at 7 p.m. next Sunday (May 9), and the winners will be whichever team reaches the finish line in San Francisco first.

The McCoy family gathered together to watch Sunday night’s episode in Ada. But they had to DVR it, because Cord was driving in from a rodeo in Waco, Texas.

He also had to swing by and pick up his 89-year-old grandmother, Dorothy Greenway.

“None of us checked our cell phones or anything so that nobody would give it away,” Cord and Jet’s sister Nikki Callison told Penny.

“And that has been really fun. Even though Jet and Cord know how they handled each challenge, they’re just seeing how the other teams handled them, as well.”

The McCoys started Leg 11 of the race in first place, but they slipped to second when they couldn’t find the Garden Bridge in Shanghai, China.

Narrowly edging out the brothers for first place were dating models Caite Upton and Brent Horne from South Carolina. Brothers Dan and Jordon Pious from Rhode Island also advanced to next week’s finale.
