Friday Featured Track for March 19, 2010: Shiny Toy Guns’ “Rocketship 2010″
The song that has been in my head the most this week:
- “Rocketship 2010,” Shiny Toy Guns, from the 2009 remix album “Girls Le Disko.”
The pulsating indie rock/electronica of Shiny Toy Guns has a tendency to stay wedged in the back of my head for days on end. The Los Angeles band, which has Oklahoma roots, recently released this third version of its “Rocketship” as the second single from “Girls Le Disko.” The infectious beat has been buzzing in my ears for the past few days, giving me a little extra energy to propel me through a tough week.
In my opinion, this song features a particularly fine vocal performance from singer/guitarist Chad Petree, who grew up in Shawnee with the Shinys’ keyboardist/bassist Jeremy Dawson.
