Fans don’t have to worry about country music superstar Carrie Underwood settling down, even after she and pro hockey player Mike Fisher get married.

A Checotah native, Underwood calls Nashville home, while Fisher makes his home in Peterborough in Ontario, Canada, where he plays for the Ottawa Senators. According to The Boot, Underwood anticipates that their travel-centric careers will keep them from settling into an particular place anytime soon.

“We’ll be little nomads for awhile, until one of us retires,” Underwood says.

Underwood says she and her future husband already are accustomed to spending a lot of time apart while she is touring and he is traveling with his team.

“Not being in the same room won’t lessen our relationship,” she says. “We completely have faith in each other.”

Once the couple settles into a permanent home, Underwood is already imagining starting a family with Fisher.

“Mike is amazing with children,” she says. “He’s so going to be a better parent! I’m not bad with them, but I didn’t grow up around children, and he had brothers and sisters his age.”

The couple has stayed mum about their wedding date, saying only that they plan to marry sometime this summer.

In an interview with the Associated Press this week, Underwood says they have set a date that they hope to keep private. They haven’t even told family and friends in an effort to keep unwelcome cameras away from the nuptials.

“Not to say even anybody would care to show up, but just in case,” Underwood tells the AP. “Like anybody you deserve to get married and have a great day as people. I’m not going to be Carrie Underwood the entertainer walking down the aisle. I’m just Carrie and I’m going to marry Mike. I feel like that’s kind of a right everybody deserves to have.”
