2010 Oscar winners list: “The Hurt Locker” wins 6

“The Hurt Locker”

“The Hurt Locker” won six of the nine Oscars for which it was nominated Sunday night at the 82nd Academy Awards. Among its Oscars were best picture and best director for Kathryn Bigelow, who became the first female filmmaker to win the directing Oscar.

James Cameron’s sci-fi epic “Avatar,” which is the highest-grossing film in history, also was nominated for nine Oscars and won three, all technical awards.

In the acting categories, Jeff Bridges won with his fifth nomination, taking home best actor for playing a washed-up country singer in “Crazy Heart.” Sandra Bullock became the first performer ever to win an Oscar (for portraying a spine-steeled mama bear in the football drama “The Blind Side”) and a Razzie (for playing an obsessive crossword puzzle writer in “All About Steve”) in the same year.

First-time Oscar nominees Mo’Nique and Christoph Waltz won the supporting trophies for their respective turns as a brutally abusive mother in “Precious” and a nasty but oh-so polite Nazi in “Inglourious Basterds.”
