Oklahomans who have been forced to scrap plans and stay home today because of the weather – and I’m one of those – can commiserate with country music stars George Strait, Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack.

Strait has postponed two weekend tour dates because of winter weather concerns, according to CMT.com. The King of Country, along with opening acts McEntire and Womack, was originally scheduled to play Friday in Knoxville, Tenn., and Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.

With heavy snow and ice predicted for the area, those dates have been rescheduled for April 2 in Knoxville and April 3 in Charlottesville.

“Due to our concern for the safety of our fans and crew, we are rescheduling shows this weekend,” Strait said in the CMT.com report. “We regret the change, but it’s best to take all the necessary precautions.”

Strait, Oklahoma native McEntire and Womack are scheduled to play Tulsa’s BOK Center on Feb. 20. Tickets sold out last weekend in less than an hour. Here’s hoping this harrowing winter won’t delay that show.
