Original soundtrack “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” (Summit Entertainment/Chop Shop/Atlantic Records)

Music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas and director Chris Weitz gather a talented stable of indie-rock stars and up-and-comers to give the sequel “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” its sonic resonance.

All the rockers involved excel at making otherworldly music, which makes them ideal for punctuating the film’s vampire-human-werewolf love triangle.

Death Cab for Cutie opens the album with the moody urgency of “Meet Me on the Equinox,” the chart-topping soundtrack’s lead single, while Band of Skulls strut in with the hip-shaking guitar rocker “Friends.” Radiohead’s Thom Yorke builds a spooky tension with the electronic buzz of “Hearing Damage.”

Much of the “New Moon” is dedicated to the despair that consumes heroine Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) after her vampire boyfriend (Robert Pattinson) leaves her. So, much of the album is dominated by eerily mournful songs like Lykke Li’s “Possibility,” Anya Marina’s “Satellite Heart” and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s “Done All Wrong.” While undoubtedly fitting, repeated listens probably aren’t advisable unless you get a kick out of depression.

Tulsa native St. Vincent partners with Bon Iver for one of these haunting tracks, “Roslyn,” which is lovely but more a showcase for Justin Vernon and band than for the Oklahoma-born talent formerly known as Annie Clark.

Fortunately, the album isn’t all gloom, with Hurricane Bells rocking the fuzzy guitars on “Monsters,” OK Go pounding and strumming through “Shooting the Moon” and Grizzly Bear sparkling through the dreamlike “Slow Life.”

I love twilight and they better have a good sound track!!!!

I just finished listening to the New Moon soundtract for the first time. I wasn’t able to make myself listen to it again…What in the world happened??? My friends and I have been listening to the Twilight soundtract almost exclusively since it was released…Should we be worried about what the “powers that be” have done to the second movie??? I tried to give my CD away to my friend, and she said, “Thanks, but no thanks…It stinks!” Maybe it should be equipped with a “scratch and sniff sticker”…I’m wondering who is responsible for this major screw up….

this soundtrack stunk. the first one is way better. this one is just to bland and emo for my taste. i can listen to depressing music and like it. but this is just song after song of the same monotone music. there is no feeling. i hope the movie is fun. not dead like the soundtrack.

i agree that this cd is not anything close to the twilight cd; it was so much more personal with rob pattinson’s music on it . i listen to it to hear meet me on the equinox then turn it off

“Twilight: New Moon” certainly has credibility but it’s not enough for me to like this series of movies. The movie opens with a dream sequence of Bella being a grandmother and Edward Cullen just staring at her. The movie is on Edward Cullen which is Robert Pattinson’s character breaking apart from Bella to go live with the Vultutars, which is a group of vampires two played by Dakota Fanning and Micheal Sheen. He grew up around these vampires but does Edward want to become one, not really. He wants to be with Bella. The Vulturtars live in a huge castle somewhere in Italy with big fancy hallways, statues, archways.

is it really that bad…? if it is then CRAP!!!!!!

There are some fascinating cut-off dates on this article however I don’t know if I see all of them heart to heart. There’s some validity but I’ll take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we wish more! Added to FeedBurner as well
