Letterman goes country this week; Carrie Underwood playing the late show tonight

“The Late Show with David Letterman” is going country this week, with some of the biggest names in country music performing on the show.

Oklahoma country superstar Carrie Underwood kicks off the week, performing tonight on the late show. On Tuesday, the Checotah native will release her third album, “Play On.”

Brad Paisley, who will co-host the CMA Awards with Underwood later this month, will perform Tuesday night on “Letterman.”

On Wednesday, alternative country artist Ryan Bingham will make his “Late Show” debut.

Superstar Keith Urban also will perform for the first time on the show, making his debut Thursday.

Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley will close Letterman’s country week on Friday.

Among the other celebs visiting Letterman next week are Julia Louis-Dreyfus from the CBS comedy series “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (Monday); former Vice President Al Gore (Tuesday); comic legend Bill Cosby (Wednesday); and actor Ricky Gervais (Friday).

“The Late Show with David Letterman” airs at 10:35 p.m. on CBS (KWTV-9 in Oklahoma City).
