Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson release children’s book, lullaby CD

Rock icons Ann and Nancy Wilson of the world-famous group Heart will delight children and parents from coast to coast with the delivery of a new CD and book sure to inspire lots of snuggling.
Guitarist Nancy Wilson proves that her music moves fans of all ages with “Baby Guitars,” a melodic collection of acoustic lullabies. Earlier this week, she released “Baby Guitars” exclusively on Amazon.com as both a CD (suggested retail price $9.99) and digital download (SRP $8.99).
In addition, Nancy’s sister, legendary vocalist Ann Wilson, has created an engaging children’s book based on her hit song lyrics “Dog & Butterfly.”
“Dog & Butterfly” was written and illustrated by Ann with Nancy adding color and some unique artistic touches to the mix.
The “Dog & Butterfly” storybook (SRP $11.98) also was released on Amazon.com this week, just in time to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the classic double-platinum Heart album.

“Baby Guitars”
“It never occurred to me to actually try and put people to sleep with my music. But then the idea came up when a friend had a new baby,” said Nancy Wilson in a news release. “Being a mom myself I knew that certain stories or music could bring such magical dreaminess into the nursery. Since then, many ‘test babies’ have been effectively lulled to sleep with these acoustic instrumentals. Even now my bigger little kids still request it at bed time. ‘Baby Guitars’ is cozy and familiar like a special favorite blanket.”
According to the release, the 10 compositions and the guitar work on “Baby Guitars” are reminiscent of Nancy’s work on the musical scores of films such as “Jerry Maguire,” “Almost Famous” and “Vanilla Sky.” Two of the new CD’s songs, “Sun on the Rug” and “Every Snowflake,” are featured on her “Elizabethtown” soundtrack album, and “Sun on the Rug” was prominently heard in the Hilary Swank movie “P.S. I Love You.”
Until now, the only people lucky enough to listen to the entire collection of lullabies were close family friends who were gifted with home-burned copies to commemorate the birth of their children. The album’s colorful cover art was specially created by Nancy Wilson’s children for the CD.

“Dog & Butterfly” storybook
“I wanted to create a story for the very little ones that conveyed the message of the song about the miracle that happens one sunny day to a tenacious little puppy who refuses to give up and catches his dream,” said Ann Wilson in the release. “It’s my hope that, read aloud, it will be a fun and happy experience for readers and children, teaching the gentle lessons of patience and optimism. We tried to give the illustrations lots of character and color, so that Dog & Butterfly becomes a permanent addition to the ‘story-before-bed’ shelf!”
Her tale brings to life the tale of a little dog whose only desire is to befriend a butterfly and the determination and perseverance that help him reach his goal. Ann Wilson’s lush illustrations help set the tone, while her multi-talented sibling Nancy contributed her own whimsical drawings of butterflies.
Ann and Nancy Wilson have also recorded a brand-new version of “Dog & Butterfly,” the hit song from the double-platinum album of the same name, specifically for the children’s book project. The song will be available for download only with the purchase of the book.
