Break out the face paint, black leather and pyrotechnics: KISS is coming to Oklahoma.

Because of fan demand, the venerable rock band has added five more dates to its North American “KISS Alive 35 Tour,” including a Dec. 8 show at Tulsa’s BOK Center, according to an announcement from the venue.

The tour kicked off Sept. 25 in Detroit and was originally scheduled to travel to 40 cities. After playing to sold-out crowds on almost every stop, the band added five more cities, including Tulsa, to the itinerary.

A sale date and ticket prices for the Tulsa show are expected to be announced soon, according to the news release.

“For 35 years, KISS has rocked all over the world to sold-out crowds and set the standard for what a rock show should be. This tour will solidify our place in history for having the loudest, most entertaining and hardest rockin’ show in all of music,” said singer/bassist Gene Simmons in the release.

Along with songs such as “Detroit Rock City,” “Beth” and the iconic “Rock and Roll All Nite,” KISS is known for its bombastic live shows. In addition to the band’s signature face makeup and thunderous music, the tour features updated costumes and dazzling pyrotechnics.

“We are thrilled that the demand for additional KISS dates has been so overwhelming,” said singer/rhythmn guitarist Paul Stanley in the release. “We’re excited to show off the new pyrotechnics and costumes for our die-hard followers.”

Along with its classic hits, KISS — which currently includes Simmons, Stanley, lead guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer — is performing tracks from its new CD, “Sonic Boom,” on the tour. “Sonic Boom” was released Tuesday exclusively through Walmart and Sam’s Club. According to Billboard.com, the record is on track to sell 160,000 to 180,000 copies in its first week, which could make it the band’s first-ever No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart.

The group has a chance to reach another big milestone: Last month, KISS received its first nomination for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The band might be celebrating its 35th anniversary, but the rockers clearly aren’t ready to mellow out. On Tuesday, the band capped its five-minute performance of new single “Modern Day Delilah” on “The Late Show with David Letterman” with Simmons licking the host’s ear.

Way to waste your time stealing from the Tulsa World.

Hey, Blabbermouth -

I got the basic information from just where the story says, a concert announcement from the BOK Center. And if the Tulsa World has a story on this, I’m sure they got at least some of their information from the very same place. Since the venue’s goal is to sell as many tickets as possible, the BOK Center sends its show announcements to multiple media outlets, I can assure you. BAM
