Backstreet Boys cancel TV performance after Brian Litrell is diagnosed with swine flu

Apparently, pop music celebrity can get you a lot of things, but it doesn’t guarantee adequate inoculation against the swine flu.
The Backstreet Boys were forced to cancel a performance scheduled for today on CBS’ “The Early Show” after Brian Litrell, a member of the singing quartet, was diagnosed with the swine flu.
According to a news release, the other three Backstreet Boys – Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean – have seen a doctor and are not showing any symptoms of H1N1. As a preventive measure, the doctor has prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, who had just returned to the United States from Tokyo.
The group is in New York promoting its new album “This Is Us,” which was released today. The quartet was scheduled to perform its new single “Straight Through My Heart” today on the CBS morning show.
An intimate performance at PC Richards has also been cancelled and rescheduled for a later date.
The three healthy members of the former boy band talked today to Entertainment Weekly’s Dave Karger about the situation and how they are trying to salvage their promotional blitz. To read the story, click here.
