Oklahoma singer Mica Roberts releases new single “Days You Live For”

Oklahoma country singer Mica Roberts is preparing for the arrival at radio of her new single “Days You Live For.”

“Every once in a while, God reaches down and says, ‘Here you go,’” Roberts said of the song in a news release. The song has grown from the seed of an idea to a single releasing nationwide to radio in a matter of days.

Written by Roberts with Regie Hamm (David Cook’s “Time Of My Life”) and Lee Thomas Miller (Trace Adkins “You’re Gonna Miss This,” Jamey Johnson’s “In Color”), the song had an inauspicious start.

“Regie and I were in the studio and he was asking me how things were going,” Roberts explains in the release. “And it was just one of the days where I was kind of frustrated in general and kind of at a loss about what to do.”

The discussion turned to days you live through versus days you live for. Lyrics flowed from there, musicians were brought in and a demo was cut.

Roberts took the demo to her producer, fellow Oklahoman Toby Keith, who also happens to be proprietor of her label, Show Dog Nashville.

“He was like, ‘Wow, is this the master?’ And I said it can be! So Regie produced what ended up being the master,” she says in the release. ”The whole thing happened in under a week. It’s just one of those things that’s meant to be.”

“Day You Live For” reaches radio Sept. 28 and is currently available digitally and as part of a four-song EP of the same title, which also includes Roberts’ debut single “Things A Mama Don’t Know,” “Love In Everything” and “Tearing Down A Home.”

Beyond the personal touch as a co-writer of the new track, Roberts also brings her big vocals to the single. Her talents have been widely recognized from her school days in Locust Grove to singing backing vocals for Faith Hill, Martina McBride and, now, Keith, who recognized her potential as a self-contained recording artist by signing her to his label in 2008. Roberts charted last year with the single “Things A Mama Don’t Know.”

The Oklahoma native continues to tour as part of Keith’s Easy Money Band while writing and recording her own material for an upcoming Show Dog album.
