Soundtrack list for “Twilight Saga: New Moon” released; St. Vincent duet included

“Twilight Saga” author Stephenie Meyer revealed the hotly anticipated soundtrack listing to the sequel “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” today on her Web site.

All of the music is original and exclusive to the soundtrack, according to her post.

Along with the expected contribution from Meyer’s favorite band, Muse, the soundtrack will include songs from Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, The Killers and Grizzly Bear.

Muse is providing a remixee version of “I Belong to You” from its new album “The Resistance.”

I’m disappointed that Kings of Leon, who have Oklahoma ties and were rumored to be sought after for the soundtrack, did not make the list. I’m also sorry that one of my all-time favorite bands, Collective Soul, whose “Tremble for My Beloved” was on the “Twilight” soundtrack, won’t be included in the sequel.

st. vincentBut I’m intrigued by the apparent collaboration between singer-songwriter Justin Vernon’s band Bon Iver and singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist St. Vincent, AKA Tulsa native Annie Clark. (She is pictured at left.)

They will be contributing a song titled “Roslyn,” which isn’t the name of any major character or place that I can recall from Meyer’s books. Hmmm. Mysterious.

The Death Cab for Cutie song and video debuted last week during the MTV Video Music Awards. Here is the video:
