Video: Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift VMA acceptance speech

Can someone please get Kanye West some kind of therapy?

Just when you thought Serena Williams’ expletive-laden threats against a U.S. Open line judge on Saturday night would be the pinnacle of the weekend’s celebrity boorishness, along comes Kanye West, who is always good for an inappropriate outburst.

Kanye made a spectacle of himself and was booed off the Radio City stage at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards. Why? He raided the stage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech after her win for female video of the year for “You Belong With Me.”

The country-pop singer-songwriter was giving one of her usual appealingly effusive acceptance speeches, and for good reason. As she pointed out, it’s rare for a country artist to win a VMA moon man. Everyone (including some of her fellow nominees) was smiling at her teenage enthusiasm when suddenly Kanye appeared seemingly out of thin air to say the award should have gone to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” With his history of unwarranted awards-show audacity, who let this joker take the stage, anyway?

Kayne’s protest clearly wasn’t solicited by Beyonce, whose shock and dismay were clear from the audience. Later in the evening, after her video won the top prize, video of the year, Beyonce brought some much-needed class to the proceedings by inviting Swift onstage to share in the moment. Good for her.

In other VMA news, new footage of the hotly anticipated sequel “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” was unveiled, Janet Jackson performed a tribute to her late brother Michael and other moon men statues were handed out.

But not much attention has been paid to any of that because once again the attention is on the big-mouthed and easily outraged West. People are clearly sick of his behavior, and he was asked to leave the show after his outburst. Of course, that punitive gesture and his subsequent blog post apologizing to Swift and her mother don’t mean much when you consider that they guy has gone off on at least one tirade during virtually every awards show the music industry has to offer (except for the country ones, of course).

If there is a grand slam title for idiotic celebrity jerk, then he and Serena can hoist the trophies because they are the decisive weekend winners.

Here are the videos of Kanye’s asinine protest and Beyonce’s gracious decision to let Swift have her moment. Check after the break for a list of VMA winners.

Kanye West was way outta line! I don’t really like country music (sorry Taylor) But I still fell like Taylor Swift deserved to win. And Beyonce, you better bite Kanye’s immature head off. That was a very noble thing to invite Taylor Swift out onto the stage a second time to share the lime light! Congratulations to all the winners of the 2009 MTV VMA!

Kayne West should be fined like the tennis player was recently for Bad Sportsmanship.
How rude and arrogant he was…..wayyyyyyy out of line.
Hopefully those voting next year will rememer this , if you get my drift.
Congrats to all the winners.

Good post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice just a little something from their store. I¡¯d prefer to use some with the content material on my weblog whether you don¡¯t mind. Natually I¡¯ll give you a link on your web weblog. Thanks for sharing.
