Carrie Underwood’s new single, “Cowboy Casanova,” rushed to radio after Internet leak

The feisty first single from Carrie Underwood’s upcoming album has been rushed to radio after a rough version of the song was leaked on the Internet.
“Cowboy Casanova” was hurriedly released to radio late Wednesday evening after the leak of an unfinished rendition of the song, Underwood’s publicist announced this morning. The single was originally scheduled to arrive next Tuesday at country radio, according to the news release.
The song is the lead-off single to the Oklahoma native’s third album, “Play On,” which comes out Nov. 3. The country music star is continuing to work on the record with Mark Bright, who produced her 2007 sophomore album “Carnival Ride” and seven tracks from her 2005 debut “Some Hearts.”
Underwood penned “Cowboy Casanova” with Brett James, one of the co-writers of her Grammy-winning hit “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” and Mike Elizondo. The rocking track has Underwood belting out a cautionary tale about a man “who looks like a cool drink of water, but he’s candy-coated misery.”

“Play On” is one of the most anticipated country albums of the fall. Underwood, the reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, has notched sales of more than 10 million records between “Some Hearts” and “Carnival Ride.” Earlier this year, the Checotah native became the first country artist in history and the only “American Idol” winner to earn 10 No. 1 singles from their first two albums.
