Festival schedule
Tonight
7 p.m.: Tales from Two Cities
- Everybody and Their Dog (Oklahoma City, OK)
EATD combines short-form, long-form and sketch comedy in their performances. They are particularly fond of the “Dick Family” sketches for no apparent reason. The old Dogs can indeed learn new tricks – and are much more versatile than Gypsy Rose Lee.
- Spontaniacs! (Tulsa, OK)
The show begins with a bit of short form and segues into a 15-minute soap opera.
8:30 p.m.: Duo-prov
- Twinprov (Oklahoma City, OK)
Combining elements of stand-up, sketch, improv and musical comedy, Twinprov shows are diverse, memorable and full of surprises.
-FORK (Denver, CO)
This duo from Denver performs a unique long-form. It begins with the duo simultaneously speaking about a subject. Out of this, a series of scenes are developed.
10 p.m.: The Edge
- Confidence Men (Austin, TX)
The Confidence Men get a suggestion of a location from the audience that will serve as the setting for at least one of the two acts in their improvised play. Between acts, there is a 30-second musical intermission. Confidence Men is a show improvised in the style of David Mamet.
- Jailer (Atlanta, GA)
From the suggestion of a single location, they are unable to leave that locale until they explore their characters through environment. Jailer has gotten rave reviews since it premiered in April 2009 in The Basement Theatre’s TWO X TWO collection of one-act play shows.
Saturday
7 p.m.: Bedlam Rivalry
- Ham Wallet (Stillwater, OK)
Mixed-format improv with audience suggestions. They begin with an association game. Scenes follow, ending the show with one or two short-form games, depending on the time.
- O.U. Improv! (Norman, OK)
O.U. Improv! performs short-form improv games. They are high-energy and always creative.
8:30 p.m.: Texas Shootout
- Shyla Bryan and Pat (Austin, TX)
Begins with three separate scenes that begin to slowly work closer together until they inhabit the same world.
- Coldtowne Tour Co. (Austin, TX)
The Coldtowne Tour Co. is proficient in many long-form formats, but will be performing either a Harold or an Armando at this particular festival.
10 p.m.: Red Scram
- Red Dirt Improv (Oklahoma City, OK)
The troupe performs short- and long-form improv. They will likely perform a series of scenes based on a single theme taken from the audience.
- SCRAM! (Chicago/Twin Cities)
Nationally touring improv show featuring Jill Bernard (Minneapolis) and Joe Bill (Chicago), who improvise three scenes concurrently for about half an hour.
-BAM
