Features/entertainment intern Nathan Poppe ventured onto Tinker Air Force Base last week to talk to personnel who were featured in the huge summer blockbuster “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

Director Michael Bay approached members of the 552nd Air Control Wing to play a part that at its core was similar to their real-life jobs: provide air support for a giant battle in Egypt. Only in the film, their support is going to help the Autobots defeat the Decepticons.

About 40 members of the 552nd ACW flew in an E-3 Sentry, a plane based at Tinker, for filming at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, Nathan reports.

Members of the 552nd ACW also helped write military dialogue for the film.
