RIP Mollie Sugden

Mollie Sugden as Mrs. Slocombe
British comedic actor Mollie Sugden, best known for playing rainbow-hue-hair Mrs. Slocombe in long-running BBC sitcom “Are You Being Served?,” died today after a long illness. She was 86.
She died at the Royal Surrey hospital with her twin sons, Robin and Simon Moore, at her side, according to The Guardian. Her husband, fellow actor William Moore, died in 2000.
Sugden played sharp-tongued, imperious saleswoman Betty Slocombe, whose curly updo was constantly changing vibrant colors, in the long-running, double-entendre-packed sitcom “Are You Being Served?” The series has aired on Sunday nights on Oklahoma public television station OETA for years, and I grew up watching it and chuckling at Mrs. Slocombe.

She will be missed. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and fans.
