Oklahoma violinist Kyle Dillingham can add another to the list of the more than 25 countries he’s performed in: Thailand.

The Patravadi Theatre in Bangkok was the setting for his newest project, “Phra Lor,” a large-scale musical production that featured him in the lead role. He performed from June 19-28 in the epic tale, which received gushing reviews.

Dillingham, who the theater billed as “a world-famous fiddler from the United States,” teamed up with Thailand’s masters in theater, music and dance to create the exciting new work.

Among the ticket-holders for the invitation-only opening-night show was a member of the Thai Royal Family, Princess Maha Chakri Sinrindhorn. Other notables who attended the premiere were the minister of finance, Israel’s ambassador, the U.S. ambassador, first secretary and cultural affairs officer to Thailand. His Majesty the King of Thailand gave his support, along with the embassy of the United States.

The Enid native and Oklahoma City resident has previously performed at the Grand Ole Opry (twice); with country legends Toby Keith, Vince Gill and Bill Monroe; and for the King of Malaysia and the ambassadors to Japan, Romania and Saudi Arabia, just to name a few.

Plans are in the works to bring the production of “Phra Lor” to the United States for a possible tour.
