Julianne Hough to get “Footloose” in remake
Country singer and “Dancing With the Stars” pro Julianne Hough will be getting “Footloose” in the remake of the 1984 film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, will join Chace Crawford (TV’s “Gossip Girl,” “The Haunting of Holly Hartley,” “The Covenant”) in the Paramount Pictures remake, provided her schedule will work out for the March filming. If it does all go according to the present plan, it will mark Hough’s feature film debut; she already has worked as a professional dancer, TV star, choreographer and country recording artist.
Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer starred in the original version of the film, and Kenny Ortega (“High School Musical”) is producing and directing the remake.
In spring, Zac Efron dropped out of the project after being attached for more than a year. Efron reportedly wanted to avoid being typecast as a song-and-dance man after breaking out in the “High School Musical” franchise and subsequently finding success with the remake of “Hairspray.”
