Kings of Leon returning to Oklahoma City

Alt-rockers Kings of Leon, who have Oklahoma ties, are returning to Oklahoma City to play Oct. 3 at the Ford Center.
The band last fall played a much smaller OKC venue: The Coca-Cola Bricktown Events Center.
Kings of Leon have been blazing new trails with their fourth album, 2008′s “Only by the Night,” which includes the hit “Sex on Fire.” The band played earlier this month on the MTV Movie Awards.
The Ford Center currently is closed for renovations, and the Kings are one of the first (if not the first) concerts that I’ve heard announced for the arena’s fall re-opening.
Maybe it will deter some of the naysayers who believe that because of Tulsa’s BOK Center, the Ford Center will never host another big concert. But I doubt it – some people love to wallow in negativity.
