More performers added to Tony Awards

Country music icon Dolly Parton, along with the cast of “9 to 5: The Musical”; Elton John with the cast of “Billy Elliot, The Musical”; Liza Minnelli; Stockard Channing; and the rock band Poison, along with the cast of “Rock of Ages,” have been added as performers on THE the 63rd Annual Tony Awards.

The awards show will air live from Radio City Music Hall from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday on CBS.

They join previously announced musical performances from the Tony Award-nominated shows “Billy Elliot, The Musical,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Hair,” “Next to Normal,” “Pal Joey,” “Rock of Ages,” “Shrek the Musical” and “West Side Story.”

 This year’s broadcast will also feature some of Broadway’s favorites that are currently touring cities across the United States: “Jersey Boys,” “Legally Blonde, The Musical” and “Mamma Mia!”

Neil Patrick Harris, star of the CBS comedy “How I Met Your Mother,” will host the awards show. Oklahoma native Kristin Chenoweth, Lucie Arnaz, Kate Burton, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Edie Falco, Will Ferrell, Carrie Fisher, Jane Fonda, Hallie Foote, James Gandolfini, Lauren Graham, Colin Hanks, Marcia Gay Harden, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Lange, Frank Langella, Angela Lansbury, Audra McDonald, David Hyde Pierce, Piper Perabo, Oliver Platt, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Spacey, John Stamos and Chandra Wilson are set to present.

For the first time, this year’s Tony Awards will be broadcast in high-definition television, the better to enjoy all those elaborate musical numbers.
