Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood is staying in the country music spotlight.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tenn., will open a spotlight exhibit called “Carrie Underwood: All-American Girl” on June 11.

The exhibit will feature the scarlet silk taffeta gown Underwood donned at April’s 2009 Academy of Country Music Awards, according to the museum.

The voluminous dress, which Underwood wore while belting out her hit cover of the 1988 Randy Travis chart-topper “I Told You So,” was created by Miami-based fashion designer Rafael Cennamo. The merlot gown, which was kept a secret before the awards show, dwarfed the slim singer with its 120 yards of fabric and 8-foot-long train.

“It was an honor to wear such a beautiful dress during one of the most special nights of my life. I truly felt like a princess!” Underwood says in a news release.

She went on to win entertainer of the year and top female vocalist at the April 5 ACM Awards.

“I’ve had a lot of good moments in the past four years. This one takes the cake. Thank you God, thank you fans and thank you ACMs for nominating me in the first place. … I never expected to be nominated,” she said after winning the top award, entertainer of the year.

Raised in Checotah, Underwood has become one of the hottest performers on the music scene since she won the fourth season “American Idol” in 2005. Her debut album, “Some Hearts,” is the best-selling “American Idol” debut project to date, having sold more than 7 million copies in the United States. With the release of her sophomore album, “Carnival Ride” in 2007, she has now sold more than 10 million albums in just more than three years.

She also has won numerous awards, including four Grammys and various prizes from the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, CMT Music Awards, American Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards and more.

Entrance to the exhibit “Carrie Underwood: All-American Girl” will be included with regular museum admission and remain on display through Dec. 31.
