The Academy of Country Music’s big salute to George Strait will air at 7 tonight on CBS (KWTV-9 in Oklahoma City).
“George Strait: ACM Artist of the Decade All Star Concert” is the first TV tribute special to honor the ACM Artist of the Decade winner. It was recorded in Las Vegas on April 6, the day after the ACM Awards.
Only four other artists have received the Artist of the Decade accolade: Marty Robbins in 1969, Loretta Lynn in 1979, Alabama in 1988 and Oklahoman Garth Brooks in 1998. Brooks presented Strait with his Artist of the Decade hardware at the concert.
The event definitely lives up to the “all star” moniker. Performers included Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Brooks & Dunn, Jamie Foxx, Jack Ingram, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Montgomery Gentry, John Rich, LeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton and Lee Ann Womack.

i was wondering if anyone in the fargo-moorhead area taped the george strait acm artist of the decade? i am from out of town and would love to buy a copy for my daughter.

What a show! I love George Strait and have all his albums and also know all the words just like Ronnie Dunn’s wife. He has always held a special place in my heart and I’m looking forward to hearing many more #1 songs from him. Everyone did such a good job singing his songs, however, knowbody can do it as well as George himeself. He rules.
I will definitely be rewatching that over & over. He is so humble, sincere and a true cowboy. I have the deepest admiration and respect for him. (he’s also a hottie)

I was in Vegas for the actual show but missed it on tv last night. Anybody know when it will air again, or if there is a DVD/recording of it that I could buy?
The show last night was amazing, out of the many amazing country singers, King George, deserves this more than anyone. He is such a humble man and has such an amazing talent, and also one of the sexiest voices I have ever heard. I sure hope George keeps the hits coming, we’d be pretty lost without them!

I scheduled the tribute/special to tape (DVR), but for some reason it did not tape?? Will it be shown again, on another night or channel??? Or can I get a copy??? Please help!

Entire show was Awesome!! Wow – and Jamie Foxx needs to perform country and leave the hip hop rap world. He was fantastic! As well as all the others!! I would love to see them make a cd or put this entire show on itunes!!!

I agree with all the wonderful comments that I see on the internet about the George Strait -Artist of the Decade show, and this is the second time I have written to request a CD of the show. Hello. My mom is a huge fan of George Strait and she actually got to attend the Decade show live. But she had it taped on her DVR and it fell off, she was not watching her hours. She is sick about it so I am trying to find out if it is possible to purchase a copy of the Decade show. Please reply asap as i would really appreciate it.

Ok people – y’all are gonna have a second chance at seeing the Artist of the Decade award show. It is re-airing on June 3rd or 4th on CBS. So set your DVR’s. Now, if you have a DVD player that also records, you can make your own DVD right from your recording. That’s what I am doing. Good luck. It is definitely a must have!
This guy is truly an American Icon if there ever was one! What a show! I have every single one of his albums as well and see him every year; either here in LA or Vegas. I started taking my daughter when she was 12; she’s 29 now asn we still go every year! Anyone know where we can purchase the program as i’d love to have it? George will hopefully be performing for years to come but I could watch that show over & over again.
