Kris Allen wins “American Idol”

For the second straight year, “American Idol” voters passed over the judges’ favorite finalist and awarded the reality TV title to the underdog.
Folksy, well-scrubbed, stubbled Kris Allen of Conway, Ark., was named the 2009 “American Idol” winner tonight at the end of the show’s two-hour finale. He beat out Adam Lambert of San Diego, Calif., a confident, theatrical performer with a big voice and the judges’ favor.
To give you an idea of the contrasting styles of the two competitors: Allen did a duet tonight with country star Keith Urban, while Lambert performed with KISS. They performed “We Are the Champions” together with the surviving members of Queen.
For the second year, the judges’ opinion on the winner differed from the majority of “Idol” voters. Last year, voters picked David Cook (who also favors the stubble look, by interesting coincidence) over young talent David Archuleta.

soooooooooooo happy kris won!!! go underdogs!! (btw, David Cook was the judges favorite last year… they just said Archie outsang him in the final, which he completely did. but they both had their fan bases set by then and Cook’s was just way bigger)
the American Idol finale this year had to be one of the best finales of any show I have ever seen; I hope Adam becomes Queens’s new lead singer

Adam Lambert is the American Idol winner. He has the most talent. This was a total upset. Adam deserves the #1 spot. He is going to be big.
