Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood returned to “American Idol” Tuesday to perform this season’s farewell song, “Home Sweet Home.” Checotah’s favorite daughter rocked her cover of the Motley Crue hit. She looked and sounded so great, you wished the producers would quit cutting away to the season highlights and just focus on her.
The two-hour season finale of “American Idol” airs from 7 to 9 tonight on FOX (KOKH-25 here in Oklahoma City), though I wouldn’t expect Ryan Seacrest to announce the winner until at least 9:10. Tivo accordingly, “Idol” fans.

The contest comes down to Adam Lambert of San Diego, Calif., and Kris Allen of Conway, Ark. May the best singer win.
