Got Guy? Food Network personality travels around Oklahoma

Guy Fieri, host of the entertaining Food Network show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” has spent the last few days in Oklahoma filming at several restaurants for upcoming episodes of “Triple D.”
My family – husband Patrick, 14-year-old son Chris, 2 1/2-year-old son Gabe and I – caught up with Guy over lunch at Mama E’s Wings & Waffles in Oklahoma City.
If you’ll remember, the BAM clan ate over at Mama E’s on Saturday and were interviewed for the show by the “DDD” crew. But Guy wasn’t on site, so my kids asked if they could go back and see Guy when the the show returned to Mama E’s today. Technically, Chris asked if we could go back; Gabe just said “Where’s Guy?” the whole time we were there Saturday. Anyway, we caught the gist: They wanted Guy!
My husband and I agreed to take them back and try to catch Guy doing his “DDD” thing – and considering how incredible the fried catfish is at Mama E’s, we were eager to eat there again!
This afternoon, we ate and watched discreetly as Guy conducted interviews, including one with the girl who wrote in to recommend the restaurant for the show. Fieri then graciously signed autographs and posed for photos before the crew closed down the restaurant so he could cook with the folks at Mama E’s.
He complimented Chris on his long “rock star hair” and charmed Gabe the Babe. Now, I like him even better than I did just as a fan of the show, since he was so kind to my kids and thanked us for coming out and for watching “DDD.”

The Food Dude reportsthat “DDD” has filmed at Mama E’s, Cattlemen’s, Eischen’s in Okarche, Nic’s and Ingrid’s and plan to shoot The Diner in Norman on Wednesday. Whew!
These shoots will be spread out among various episodes, but my family was told we could expect the Mama E’s segment to run in four to six weeks. I’ll try to keep my eye out and let you know here at the blog when it’s coming up.
