ACM Early Winners

The 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards are starting at 7 tonight, but a few of the winners were announced in advance:
Brad Paisley has already claimed two 2009 ACMs. His “Waitin’ on a Woman.” starring Andy Griffith, won best video, an honor Paisley shares with the video’s producer Mark Kalbfeld, producer/director Jim Shea and director Peter Tilden.
Paisley and Keith Urban won vocal event of the year honors for their duet “Start a Band,” from Paisley’s album “Play.”
The academy also made public in advance the winners of the top new female vocalist, top new male vocalist and top new vocal duo or group categories.
Julianne Hough is the top new female vocalist; Jake Owen was the winner among the men. The Zac Brown Band won the top new vocal group title. Hough, Owen and the Zac Brown Band will compete for the top new artist award, which will be announced during tonight’s ceremony.

The ACM Awards are airing live at 7 tonight from Las Vegas with Oklahoma native Reba McEntire as host. BAM is still out sick, so I’ll be filling in for her. I will try and keep you updated on the awards this evening.
