Several online sources, including MTV.com, are reporting that Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson have been cast in “Iron Man 2.”
Rourke, who was nominated for an Oscar for his comeback role in “The Wrestler,” will reportedly play a Russian baddie. Johansson will replace Emily Blunt as spy Black Widow, according to MTV.
The sequel will have fellow comeback kid Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow reprising their roles and Jon Favreau back to direct. The stellar cast also will include Don Cheadle and Sam Rockwell.
“Iron Man 2″ is set for May 7, 2010 release.
In honor of the big casting news, my colleague Matt Price has posted an entire Scarlett Johansson photo gallery over at his blog Nerdage. If you’re in to that sort of thing, click here.
