Friday Featured Track
The song that has been on my brain the most the last few days:
- “High Hopes,” Pink Floyd, from the 1994 album “The Division Bell.”
It’s been unseasonably cold and gray most of the week, and when that happens, it puts this lovely, moody, atmospheric song in my head. Plus, it’s got that awesome David Gilmour slide-guitar solo at the end.
Also, a bit of trivia: According to Wikipedia, Gilmour’s pal, the late Douglas Adams, the author of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” picked the title of the song from one of the lyrics. Gilmour and Polly Samson penned the song; the couple got married during the “Division Bell Tour.”
Check out the “High Hopes” music video, plus a clip of Gilmour playing the solo in a 2001 concert. Both are posted from YouTube.
