ACM album of the year nominees named; Carrie Underwood receives nomination
The Academy of Country Music announced this morning the album of the year nominees for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The winners in this category, along with previously announced categories, will be broadcast live from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena from 7 to 10 p.m. April 5 on the CBS Television Network.
Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood received one of the five nominations for her sophomore effort, “Carnival Ride.” That boosts her number of ACM nominations to four; she also is nominated for top female vocalist, video of the year for “Just a Dream” and the top award, entertainer of the year.

This category also changes the total number of award nominations for the top-nominated artists. Brad Paisley now leads with six nominations; Heidi Newfield, Jamey Johnson and George Strait each receive five nominations; Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift receive four nominations and Keith Urban receives three.
