“Slumdog Millionaire” set for March 31 DVD release
“Slumdog Millionaire,” which won eight Oscars last month, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 31.
The Blu-ray version will include a bonus music video, according to IMDB.
Danny Boyle’s best picture winner was No. 3 last weekend at the box office, so it’s clearly benefiting from post-Oscar boost. It was the film’s best showing in its almost four months in release, pushing its domestic take to $115 million.
In light of the film’s strong showing in theaters, some analysts seemed surprised at the rapidly approaching release date. But I figure the post-Oscar buzz will have faded by March 31, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of the DVD. Let’s hope for some terrific bonus features. An instructional video on how to choreograph a Bollywood-style dance sequence might be nice, along with versions of those terrific songs with the lyrics translated into English.
