Next “Narnia” film will release in winter 2010
Walden Media and 20th Century Fox will return “The Chronicles of Narnia” film franchise back to winter for the third film in the series.
“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” will open Dec. 10, 2010, according to Variety.com.
Fox is partnering with Walden on the next installment in the ”Narnia” film series since Disney left the franchise after the second film in the series, “Prince Caspian,” made less money than expected.
Disney released the first movie in the series, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” in winter 2005, and it made $291.7 million domestically.
The Mouse House then made the ill-advised decision to release “Prince Caspian” in summer 2008, between “Iron Man” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” The second film made $141.2 million domestically.
According to Variety, Fox and Walden believe the series, based on C.S. Lewis’ beloved book series, are better suited for holiday release. That seems like a no-brainer, but I guess try explaining that to a certain Mickey Mouse studio.
As of now, Variety says “Dawn Treader” has the Dec. 10, 2010 date to itself.
I’m pleased to see that Disney’s mishandling of the Narnia franchise haven’t left its fans in a permanent winter and will be looking forward to taking a trip on the Dawn Treader.

I AM LOOKING FORWARD FOR THE NEXT PART OF NARNIA ie THE CHRONICES OF NARNIA THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER AS I AM WAITING EAGERLY TO SEE WETHER PETER AND SUSAN WILL RETURN OR NOT WITHOUT THEM THE MOVIE WILL REMAIN INCOMPLETE AND WANT TO SEE PETER AND OTHERS BECME KING AND QUEEN FOREEVER I EVEN WANT TO ATTAIN SUSAS MARRIAGE WITH CASPAIN
I’m excited about having a big fantasy epic to look forward to in the winter again, especially since they seem to have moved Harry Potter to the summer. I really don’t understand what they were thinking trying to move the Narnia movies there. They aren’t really summer type movies.
