Wednesday Video Spotlight: Taylor Hanson to be part of new supergroup

Tulsa singer/musician Taylor Hanson will be the frontman of a new supergroup that includes members of the Smashing Pumpkins, Fountains of Wayne and Cheap Trick, according to this NewsOK story from the Tulsa World’s Jennifer Chancellor.
Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos and Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger also are in the new band, which has been dubbed Tinted Windows.
“All of us have just sort of made time for the creation of the album when we could over the last couple years, and now it is going to be coming out, with all the trimmings,” Hanson writes in a letter to his fan club on Hanson.net.
The supergroup has recorded its debut album at Stratosphere Sound Studios in New York, which Schlesinger and Iha co-own with Ivy’s Andy Chase. The set is expected this spring on a label to be announced, according to Billboard.
Tinted Windows’ first major show will be March 20 Billboard’s South by Southwest showcase March 20 at the Pangaea club in Austin, Texas. The band is also set to play May 3 at New Jersey’s The Bamboozle music festival.
“For me and the other guys in the group this is a great project that is an addition to who we are in our core bands,” Hanson added.
He said he plans to continue making music with his brothers Isaac and Zac as the pop-rock band Hanson. The trio is working on a new album.
