The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will air from 7 to 10:30 tonight on CBS.

In honor of this huge musicial event, I’m posting here (courtesy YouTube) some of the artists, songs and performances I’m rooting for to win.

Remember, you can follow the awards show live on George Lang’s Staticblog. Also, I’ll be posting winners and highlights from the show here after the fact.

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, who received five nominations, including album of the year, for their terrific collaboration “Raising Sand”:

Coldplay is nominated for seven Grammys, including album of the year, song of the year and record of the year, all stemming from the band’s stellar album “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends”:

Radiohead is going into tonight with five nominations, including album of the year for “In Rainbows”:

British neo-soul singer Duffy is nominated for best new artist; country trio Lady Antebellum also is nominated in this category. They’re my favorite performers in the category, though the alleged curse that the best new artist winner is destined for a career crash prevents me from really rooting for anyone to win:

Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood, who always seems to do well at awards shows, has one nomination, for her hit “Last Name”:

Trisha Yearwood, who lives in Owasso, has three nominations, including country album of the year, from “Heaven, Heartache & the Power of Love”:

Kings of Leon, which includes two Oklahoma natives, is nominated for three Grammys, including rock album of the year, from their album “Only by the Night”:

Two groups with Oklahoma ties are going head to head in best country performance by a duo or group with vocals category: Brooks & Dunn, which includes Tulsa-raised Ronnie Dunn, is nominated for “God Must Be Busy,” and Rascal Flatts, which features Joe Don Rooney of Picher, for “Every Day.” I’m personally rooting for Rascal Flatts in this case, because “Every Day” is my favorite of the trio’s songs:
