Wednesday Video Spotlight: Straight No Chaser sings Christmas songs

The 10-member a cappella men’s singing group Straight No Chaser performed its mega-popular mixed-up version of “The 12 Days of Christmas” Monday on the “Today” show. The video of the entertaining performance is posted above from the “Today” show Web site.

The group of Indiana University graduates had disbanded years ago, but last year, one of the members posted on YouTube a video of their quirky carol, which they recorded back in 1998. It became an online sensation, pulling in more than 8 million hits. One of the viewers was Craig Kallman, chairman and CEO of Atlantic Records.

Kallman offered the group a record deal, so the singers reunited and 10 months later have released their first CD, “Holiday Spirits.” Talk about your Christmas miracles. I told you guys YouTube is magic.

I hope this great a cappella music – a personal favorite of mine – gets you in the Christmas spirit.

Thanks for posting the “12 Days” thing. I’ve been meaning to watch it. It is so hysterical. I’d never heard it until my brother-in-law played it for me this year.
