British soft-rockers Coldplay is offering a pair of Christmas gifts for their loyal fans.

The band is offering as a free download the dance-worthy Thin White Duke remix of their smash hit ”Viva La Vida” at www.coldplay.com. (If memory serves, it’s the third free download the band has made available to its fans this year.)

The other gift is a video of Coldplay performing a charming instrumental version holiday classic “Jingle Bells” with British actor Simon Pegg at a recent London show. You can see it at www.coldplay.com/ditty.

Both the mp3 and video will be available on the site until Jan. 5.

Coldplay received last month it’s own gift: The band was named the top-selling act of 2008 at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, based on international record sales. According to the London-based International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, Coldplay’s album “Viva La Vida” topped sales charts in the U.K., U.S., Japan, Germany and France.

You can read more of my thoughts on “Viva La Vida” Friday in The Oklahoman, at NewsOK and here at BAM’s Blog.
