Carrie Underwood’s “Just a Dream” No. 1 on CMT video list; other Oklahomans also make the top 20

Oklahoma country star Carrie Underwood has notched yet another honor, scoring the top video on CMT and CMT.com.

According to a new release the cable network released today, Underwood’s emotional video to her smash hit “Just a Dream” was No. 1 on a list compiling the year’s best country music videos.

Also, she was the most-streamed artist on CMT.com with her video to “All-American Girl,” which currently has garnered more than 1.4 million streams for the year. “All-American Girl” is No. 11 on CMT’s top 20 videos of 2008 list.

CMT host Lance Smith will count down the best videos of the year in a special CMT Top 20 Countdown premiering from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday on the cable channel.

“Carrie’s videos have always made a splash, and ‘Just A Dream’ is truly deserving of our chart-topping status for the year,” said Jay Frank, SVP of music strategy for CMT, in the release. “Our audience consistently told us how much they loved it through streams, online voting, message board comments and more.”

Underwood’s “Just A Dream” spent all but two weeks in the top five during her entire 16-week CMT Top 20 Countdown run. The countdown is based on a weekly analysis of CMT.com activity, digital and physical retail sales, radio airplay, other online activity and viewer voting.

The year-end Top 20 Countdown includes two other artists with Oklahoma ties. Trio Rascal Flatts, which includes Joe Don Rooney of Picher, landed in the No. 14 spot with the video for “Every Day.”

Tishomingo resident Blake Shelton came in at No. 19 with his video for  ”Home.” (The song features harmony vocals by his girlfriend, Tishomingo neighbor and fellow country star Miranda Lambert.)

In other platforms, CMT revealed that Taylor Swift held the No. 1 spot for streams this year on CMT Mobile and VOD for her video to our “Our Song.”
