“House” actress joins “Tron 2.0″ cast

Olivia Wilde, who plays the doctor known as “Thirteen” on the TV show “House,” has landed the female lead in the sequel to the ’80s sci-fi favorite “Tron,” according to Variety.

The sequel has been given various titles but currently is known by the unfortunate moniker “TR2N,” which both looks and reads like a bad license plate.

As the trade publication notes, we don’t much about the film or the character Wilde will be playing. We do know that commerical director Joseph Kosinski is set to direct. (IMDB also lists Kosinski as the director of the remake of the 1976 sci-fi film “Logan’s Run,” set for 2010 release. Basically, this means that Kosinski is destined to either be beloved or loathed entirely by fanboys ’round the globe, depending on the outcome of these two films.)

But the most important part about the long-in-coming “Tron” sequel is that Jeff Bridges will reprise his role from the 1982 film, which centers on a hacker who abducted in the world of a computer and forced to participate in a series of gladiator games.

However, I’m sure that Wilde’s delicately pretty looks won’t hurt the film’s case.

Disney plans to release the sequel in 2011.

I’m with you about the title. Sometimes they get so cutesy with them. If you make a great movie, nobody cares how clever the title was. Just call it Tron 2 already and concentrate on making the movie good!
