Sally Hawkins in “Happy-Go-Lucky”

I’ve received more e-mails from movie studios’ publicity contacts giving reactions from various actors, writers and filmmakers about their Golden Globe nominations, which were announced Thursday.

Here are some of the comments:

SALLY HAWKINS, nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy for “HAPPY-GO-LUCKY”:
“Wow, wow, wow – what a surprise, I cannot describe how I feel, so appreciative of it all and so very pleased!! Such an honor to be in the same category as Meryl Streep and Emma Thompson. They are great, iconic women that I’ve watched for years – they have definitely inspired and influenced me in my decision to pursue acting. So proud to be in this film and having the chance again to work with Mike Leigh. These past couple of days have been a whirlwind but I am feeling quite lucky and blessed at the moment.”

JOHN PATRICK SHANLEY, nominee for Best Screenplay for “DOUBT”:
“I’m so delighted that this extraordinary ensemble of actors has been honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and gratified by their recognition of my screenplay.”

AMY ADAMS, nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for “DOUBT”:
“I am so honored to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for DOUBT along with John Patrick Shanley, Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Viola Davis. Helping to bring John’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play to the screen was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.”

VIOLA DAVIS, nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for “DOUBT”:
“I cannot even believe it! I feel so blessed and grateful to the HFPA for honoring my work. It’s more than I have ever dreamed. First working with Meryl, Phillip, Amy and John and now THIS!! Thank you! Thank you!”

Christian Colson, Producer, “SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE,” BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA:
“We’ve been on a long and fascinating journey in bringing this story to the screen. It is wonderful for everyone involved with the film for it to receive this recognition. Cinderella has made it to the ball! I am particularly pleased for all of our many friends and colleagues in Mumbai who have had such a tough time over the last weeks.”

Danny Boyle, “SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE,” BEST DIRECTOR – MOTION PICTURE:
“This is such a great honor for the city of Mumbai and the cast and crew who live there. A film like ‘SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE’ needs a champion and we thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their support. It is pretty exciting; absolutely exhilarating really, it’s going to be quite a night.”

Simon Beaufoy, “SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE,” BEST SCREENPLAY – MOTION PICTURE:
“Not so long ago ‘SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE’ didn’t even have a distributor and now it is being honored with nominations for Golden Globes. That’s quite a journey. Like the character in the film, this underdog has somehow battled through and caught the hearts of movie-goers. We have much to thank Mumbai for. We discovered in that city, a warmth, generosity and faith in human nature that has somehow danced its way onto the screen. Quite literally …”

A.R. Rahman, “SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE,” BEST ORIGINAL SCORE – MOTION PICTURE:
“I am grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this nomination. I am very proud of the soundtrack and the role it plays in Danny’s phenomenal film. The fact that audiences are embracing ‘SLUMDOG’ with open arms means the world to me and is a testament to work of everyone at Fox Searchlight.”

Mickey Rourke, “THE WRESTLER,” Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama:
“I am truly honored the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has recognized my work in The Wrestler. It was a very special role for me so I am particularly grateful and thrilled. I am also very happy my friend Bruce was recognized and nominated for the beautiful song he wrote and performed.”

Marisa Tomei, “THE WRESTLER,” Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture:
“I am absolutely thrilled and cannot be happier that The Wrestler has been given so much attention. It is such an honor for the HFPA to have recognized my work and Mickey’s in this beautiful film.”
