Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon” opens with big numbers
“Frost/Nixon,” Oklahoma-born Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard’s (”A Beautiful Mind,” “Cinderella Man”) new historical drama, notched an incredible opening weekend in limited release.
The film made $180,708 at just three theaters in New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto, Universal Pictures announced today.
The film’s per-screen average is $60,236 – the biggest per-screen debut of any film released in 2008.
“This is a spectacular opening, and we are thrilled with the result,” Adam Fogelson, president of marketing and distribution for Universal, said in a news release. ”Ron Howard, his cast and crew created one of the best films of the year, and it is gratifying that audiences and critics alike are celebrating it with such enthusiasm. We look forward to bringing ‘Frost/Nixon’ to additional markets through Christmas so audiences everywhere can discover for themselves what has people crowding into these early theaters.”
“Frost/Nixon” is currently playing at AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 in New York City, ArcLight Hollywood in Los Angeles and Varsity Cinemas in Toronto, and it expands to 29 markets on Friday, before opening wide on Christmas Day.
The movie has a Rotten Tomatoes positive percentage rating of 92 percent among its critics.
“Frost/Nixon” offers a dramatic retelling of the post-Watergate TV interviews between British talk-show host David Frost (Michael Sheen) and former U.S. president Richard Nixon (Frank Langella). The movie is expected to contend for Oscars and other awards.

I have never left a comment here before, but would like to know when or if we can find the movie Frost/Nixon shown in Oklahoma City.
Hi, Liz WeMott-
“Frost/Nixon” is one of the movie awards season’s many platform releases, which means it opens in larger markets like New York and L.A. and then gradually opens in other markets such as Oklahoma City.
It hasn’t opened here yet, and the regional representative for Universal Pictures said he doesn’t yet have a firm Oklahoma City release date for the movie. But when he passes one along to me, I’ll post something here on the blog.
Thanks,
BAM

We cannot find this Frost/Nixon showing or to be shown at any movie theater in Oklahoma City. Anyone know?
