Meryl Streep wants to do “Mamma Mia!” sequel
Although ABBA songwriter/musician Benny Andersson has dismissed the idea, seasoned screen star Meryl Streep loves the idea of a “Mamma Mia!” movie sequel, according to IMDB.
But the movie’s “Dancing Queen” only likes the idea if they can “get those fabulous boys back.”
Streep starred in the summer blockbuster – adapted from the global hit musical based on the Swedish pop group’s music - with Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard. All three sang and danced their way through the movie along with Julie Walters and Christinie Baranski.
IMDB quotes Streep as saying, “‘Grand Mamma Mia!’ I like it! I’m up for doing a sequel, as long as you can get those fabulous boys back! It’s so gratifying it has been this phenomenon. … It says there’s an audience for something that appeals to a lot of women, something that might make them some money too.”
“Mamma Mia!” has become an international box office smash, grossing more than $559 million around the globe. Last month, it became the fast-selling DVD of all time in the U.K., according to Variety.

I saw Movie Mamma Mia 78 times. I tis the best magical happy musical ever and I love it soo much. It made more than any Musical ever. There is no reason why a Sequel can’t be done. I’m sure Benny and Bjron can get up more of that music. In fact the rumour from West Coast to my East Coast is they’re going to do another. I wish I had 2 Invitations to Oscars. My hubby died and I do soo much Charity work and lots more but only Mamma Mia stopped me crying for a few hours everyday. Thanks Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks bringing it to big Screen Happy New Year
