Wednesday Video Spotlight: “Star Trek” trailer

The new “Star Trek” trailer is available for viewing and embedding, so I’ve posted it here, courtesy YouTube.

Wow. I didn’t realize that when J.J. Abrams decided to go back to the beginning of “Star Trek,” he meant he was going that far back. This trailer includes shots of Kirk and Spock as mere tykes.

After the madness of the “Star Wars” prequels, I’m not sure I’m ready to go back to childhood with any more iconic space characters from classic TV/movies. I’ve been hurt before, guys, and I just don’t know if I can invest that kind of trust.

Eh, what the heck. Beam me up, Scotty - on May 8, 2009, which suddenly seems so very far away.

Let the baying of the continuity hounds commence….

Personally, I like the look of the reboot. For God’s sake people if we can survive STAR TREK FREAKING FIVE then I don’t think JJ Abrams can do much in the way of damage- unless people start seeing polar bears in the corridors of the Enterprise. Then I’m heading for the exit and a phonebook that lists hitmen.
