Football joy: OSU wins and Texas falls

I just caught the end of the Texas-Texas Tech game down in Lubbock. Wow.

If you didn’t see it, Tech scored a touchdown with just one second left to beat Texas 39-33. That means yet another No. 1-ranked team has fallen.

It also means that all my favorite teams: Oklahoma State, Florida and Oklahoma all are still in the national title hunt, since they all have just one loss. In the case of OSU and OU, their single losses are to Texas.

OSU, U of F and OU all absolutely blew out their opponents in today’s games.

The No. 9-ranked OSU Cowboys did my alma mater proud and hammered unranked Iowa State 59-17.

The No. 5 Florida Gators, traditional favorites of the McDonnell clan, whipped th No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs.

The OU Sooners, ranked No. 4, shucked the Nebraska Cornhuskers 62-28.

With the big takedown of Texas, I am happily expecting all OSU, U of F and OU all to move up in the polls.

OSU will play Texas Tech next Saturday, and that should be very, very interesting.
