BCS bliss for Oklahoma State fans

No, it’s not just a dream, fellow Cowboy fans. Thank goodness, it’s a dream come true.
I woke up today and my beloved Oklahoma State University football team is still ranked No. 6 in the first Bowl Championship Series, the highest BCS ranking the Cowboys have ever roped. Just like it was when I closed my eyes last night to go to sleep.
The Cowboys also are ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press’ weekly college football poll and No. 8 in the USA Today poll.
OSU celebrated homecoming Saturday by walloping the Baylor Bears 34-6.
My alma mater plays the No. 1 ranked team in the BSC, AP and Harris polls and in the ugliest school colors competition – OK, I made that last part up, but it’s true that burnt orange looks vile – the dreaded Texas Longhorns. Win this one, ‘boys, and the dream will get that much better.
The University of Oklahoma Sooners are ranked No. 4 in the BSC. They also are ranked No. 4 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the USA Today poll, according to ESPN.com.
The University of Tulsa also made it onto the first BSC list at No. 19. The Golden Hurricane are No. 22 in the AP poll and No. 19 in the USA Today poll.
That’s a perfect trifecta for the Oklahoma teams. Awesome.
The downer for me in all this is that the traditional favorite of the McDonnell clan, the University of Florida Gators, are ranked No. 10 in the BSC poll. That just seems awfully low for a one-point loss to Ole Miss.
Still, U of F is No. 5 in the AP poll and No. 7 on the USA Today list. So, hope still springs for the Gators.
Keep dreaming big, Cowboys. Keep dreaming big.
