AC/DC’s “Black Ice” goes on sale Monday only at Walmart
“Black Ice,” the long-awaited and highly anticipated 15th studio album from rockers AC/DC, goes on sale at 12:01 a.m. Monday exclusively through Walmart and Sam’s Club outlets.
The venerable band’s first album since 2000′s “Stiff Upper Lip” is sure to be a top seller for the year, regardless of where it is – or isn’t – sold.
But it’s a bit odd that a band known for ignoring musical trends in favor of keeping its hard-driving signature sound would follow the music-business trend of making CDs exclusively available through a single retailer. AC/DC joins the ranks of the Eagles and Garth Brooks as fellow big-name music stars who have used Wally World as an exclusive outlet.
Plus, if history is any indicator, it will soon be simple enough to find a copy of “Black Ice” outside Walmart. You can easily track down a copy of the Eagles’ “Long Road out of Eden” or Garth’s “Ultimate Hits” on Amazon.com right now.
“Black Ice” will cost $11.88 when it goes on sale Monday, and the “low Walmart price” probably has at least something to do with the success of these schemes.

Wtf Alex? They have been too big in the past to become has-beens in case you havn’t realised. In fact, Back in Black alone has sold 4 million copies since 2000 in the USA alone, not results of has-beens. And they aren’t sell-outs because they aren’t on Itunes and they don’t allow rap artists to sample there catalogue. And it is only marketing, Black Ice is available at more than just Wal-Mart and Sam’s Town by the way. CNN just says that to advertise for Wal-Mart OK. Get your facts straight.
