Wednesday Video Spotlight: Christmas and Elvis
This may sound crazy, but I listened to my first Christmas CD today.
No, I’m not one of those people that starts buying shiny tinsel and pine-scented candles before my kids have even picked out their Halloween costumes.
The new album “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets” was released Tuesday, and I have been listening to it so that I can bring you, my valued readers, a review in the coming days.
The CD uses whiz-bang technology to blend 10 of the King’s holiday recordings with new accompanying tracks from some of today’s female singing stars, including Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride and Amy Grant. The CD also includes three bonus tracks of Elvis singing Christmasy songs solo.
For this week’s spotlight, I’m including the behind-the-scenes video about the making of “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets,” from Sony BMG.
And since listening the album has put me in an early holiday mood – which means I’m thinking fondly of Christmas but nowhere near ready to break out the egg nog and festive gift wrap - I’m including some videos of beloved Christmas performances, courtesy YouTube.
And remember, have a safe and happy Halloween, since after all, it comes before Christmas (and Thanksgiving for that matter).
Behind the scenes of “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets,” featuring Carrie Underwood, Amy Grant, Martina McBride, Priscilla Presley, Wynonna Judd, the Jordanaires, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town, Gretchen Wilson, Anne Murray and LeAnn Rimes:

Sadly, I am one of those people who starts Christmas shopping before Halloween. I just want to get the shopping responsibilites over with so I can enjoy the season without worry. Still, it probably is a little weird of me. But considering that stores start putting Christmas stuff out at the beginning of October, I guess I’m not the only one.
