Friday Featured Track
Lindsey Buckingham at Tulsa’s Brady Theater (BAM photo)
The song that has been in my head the most this week:
- “Right Place to Fade,” Lindsey Buckingham, from his 2008 album “Gift of Screws.
Yes, it’s true that the heady glow of last weekend’s terrific Lindsey Buckingham show at Tulsa’s Brady Theater still lingers in my heart and head. (If you missed it, you can click here to read my rave review of the show.)
But this isn’t even a song that the Fleetwood Mac guitarist/singer performed last Friday in Tulsa. I listened to “Gift of Screws” in preparation for reviewing that show, and for the last week, I haven’t been able to stop myself from going back to this song again and again.
One song that Buckingham did play last Friday in his incredible fingerpicking style was the Fleetwood Mac classic “Second Hand News,” which is one my all-time favorites from the band. “Right Place to Fade” sounds very similar: It’s a super-catchy pop song that ends with a super-fast electrified guitar solo. It even features Mick Fleetwood on drums.
I really recommend the whole album, but “Right Place to Fade” stands out as my favorite track on “Gift of Screws.”
