Toby Keith makes Forbes list of best-paid music stars
Oklahoma singer-songwriter Toby Keith has been named one of the top-paid music stars in the world by Forbes.
Keith ranks No. 3 on the magazine’s list behind the Police and Beyonce. Following Keith in the top five are Justin Timberlake and Madonna.
Keith’s earned $48 million between June 1, 2007, and June 1, 2008, according to the Forbes story.
His long concert tours, endorsement deal with Ford and chain of successful restaurants have enabled Keith to amass his fortunate, according to the story. The story also notes that the Norman resident writes his own songs and owns his own record label.
The Oklahoma native is continuing his 2008 Biggest & Baddest tour with a six-show Canadian run starting Oct. 3 in Vancouver, according to a news release.
Tour sponsor Ford Trucks is conducting a sweepstakes, with one winner receiving a 2009 Ford F-150 and an all-expense-paid weekend on tour with Keith. Keith is preparing for the Oct. 28 release of his new album “”That Don’t Make Me A Bad Guy. The first single “She Never Cried In Front Of Me” is already a top five hit.
In the last seven years, Keith has sold more than 25 million units, according to the release.
