Brad Paisley to play Tulsa’s BOK Center
Tulsa’s new BOK Center has landed another big country music show.
Brad Paisley, the reigning Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music top male vocalist, will play Jan. 24 at the new arena.
The Tulsa date will be on the last leg of the extended “The Paisley Party” tour, his publicist announced in an e-mail.
Fellow hitmaker and Grand Ole Opry member Dierks Bentley will be the special guest on the final 24 dates of the tour.
Darius Rucker, the former Hootie & the Blowfish frontman whose first country album “Learn to Live” comes out Sept. 16, will open the January dates on the last leg of “The Paisley Party” tour. (Newcomer Crystal Shawanda, who released her debut album earlier this year, will open the February dates.)
Ticket prices and the sale date for the show have not yet been released, Casey Sparks, sales and marketing director for the BOK Center, said in an e-mail. Keep an eye on BAM’s Blog, and I’ll let you know when you can buy tickets and how much they’ll cost you.
“The Paisley Party” tour has played to more than 502,000 fans so far this year; his “Bonfires and Amplifiers Tour” last year was ranked No. 2 in total attendance for country tours by Pollstar, according to the announcement.
Paisley hit another milestone Monday: His latest single, “Waitin’ on a Woman,” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s country chart. The song became his record-setting eighth consecutive non-seasonal chart-topper; that’s more than any other country artist in the 18-year history of Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems-monitored airplay, according to a news release.
“Waitin’ on a Woman” is Paisley’s 12th career chart-topper. It’s the fifth No. 1 single from his smash “5th Gear” album, following ”Ticks,” “Online,” “Letter to Me,” and “I’m Still a Guy.”
He released on Monday his new single, a duet with Keith Urban titled “Start a Band.” It is the first single from his upcoming guitar-driven album ”Play,” which is set for Nov. 4 release.
The mostly instrumental album follows his Grammy win earlier this year for his country instrumental “Throttleneck.”
