The creators of the award-winning book “Artism: Art By Those With Autism!” are looking for new original artwork to include in the next book in the series. The book will be titled “Artism Anew,” according to a news release.
Author and lead editor Karen Simmons said in the release, “People with autism are known to create some of the world most exquisite and detailed artwork. They are among some of the most gifted artists in the world.”
“Artism Anew” will be a coffee table book filled with color artwork from people with autism. Among the artists who have already agreed to contribute is Enid resident Amanda LaMunyon, who has Asperger’s syndrome. LaMunyon, 13, was recently named the 2008 Outstanding Individual with Autism by the Autism Society of America.
“Artism” was the first Canadian Winner of the Global Book Publishing Award, according to the release.
Simmons, the founder of Autism Today and author of the books “Artism” and “Chicken Soup for Soul: Children with Special Needs,” is spearheading and coordinating the book project. Debbie Hosseini will be curating and co-writing the book.
For people who would like to submit artwork for the book, there are no limits on the number of submissions. But people are instructed to keep copies of their works, as they will not be returned, according to the release.
High-quality TIFF or PNG files of artwork must be received no later than Aug. 15. Artists can send electric files by email to artism@autismtoday.com. They also can send artwork by snail mail to Debbie Hosseini, P.O. Box 630, Carpinteria, CA 93014.
